Move-out cleaning in Boulder
A move-out clean is a deeper clean of an empty home, done so the next tenant or owner can move in and, for renters, to leave the place the way the lease asks. Here's what it usually covers, what it tends to cost, and how to send your job to local cleaning businesses.
What a move-out clean usually covers
Every company and every lease is a little different, so treat this as a starting list and check it against your own.
- Kitchen: inside the fridge and oven, inside cabinets and drawers, counters, sink, stovetop, the outside of appliances
- Bathrooms: toilet, tub or shower, sink, mirror, inside the vanity and medicine cabinet, floor
- Every room: floors vacuumed and mopped, baseboards, light switches and door handles, inside closets, window sills and tracks
- Often extra: inside windows, walls, blinds, carpet shampooing, garage or patio. Ask whether these are included or priced separately.
A short checklist before you book
- Read your lease, or ask your landlord or property manager, what cleaning they expect. Some ask for a deep clean, some only want the floors swept.
- Find your move-in condition sheet and photos, if you have them.
- Pick a date after your things are out. An empty home is quicker to clean.
- Note the bedrooms, bathrooms and anything that needs extra work (oven, carpets, pets).
- After the clean, take your own photos and video of every room before you hand back the keys.
Typical prices
We couldn't find a published average for move-out cleans in Boulder specifically, so here are the closest sourced figures:
- Move-in or move-out deep clean, US: about $220–400. For the western US region: about $220–380. (Housecall Pro, page updated October 23, 2026.)
- Hourly housekeeping in Boulder: an average of $23.88 to $31.00 an hour, as reported by providers listed on Care.com (as of October 2026).
These are reference ranges, not quotes. The price for your home depends on its size, its condition and what's on the checklist. You choose your offer. Offers well below these ranges may not get taken.
How Sweepstead works
Sweepstead is new. We're starting in Boulder now and still signing up our first cleaning businesses, so we can't promise that a business will take every job.
- Email the job, the date and what you'd like to pay.
- We send it to independent local cleaning businesses. Before a business gets any jobs from us, we ask for its current certificate of liability insurance.
- The first business to say yes contacts you. You agree the price and details with the business, and you pay the cleaning business directly.
Send your zip code, not your street address. We pass your address only to the business that takes your job, and only after you say OK. Student? See move-out cleaning for CU Boulder students.
